Shadows of Yesterday

Through video documentation, google maps screen recordings, and recorded sound from interviews and temple troops, Shadows of Yesterday recounts local histories and beliefs of one of many small temples in Taiwan. 三聖水櫃公廟 [Temple of the Three Holy Water Chest Princes], an yin temple in Miaoli, has been cared for by the small fishing community of Yuanli for over one hundred years. Additionally, fragments of my personal experiences are also woven into the narrative. I hope that this auto-ethnographic film will help to spark interest in and preserve lesser-known histories and traditions of Taiwan.
